Every student in the building has a class called Warrior Time. Warrior Time is one of the strategies we use to help students fill learning gaps, have extra tutoring, support test prep, and provide enrichment.
Filling learning gaps in math and reading is a huge reason for students to have Warrior Time. Students meet with our reading and math specialists in small groups to support growth in these skills. Students qualify for interventions due to our progress monitoring with the Star Test. If they are more than a grade level behind, they would qualify for additional support.
In the past few years, we’ve noticed that some students don't want this extra support, particularly at the high school level. Unfortunately, if they do not receive support, they fall academically behind in their reading and math skills. This sets students up for struggles in their core classes, on their ACT, and in their future schooling.
With Wisconsin’s ACT 20 and retention law changes, Warrior Time will be an even bigger benefit for our students.
