Sawyer

Sawyer Alan Melchert is a 2024 graduate of Winter High School and is the son of Ritch Melchert.

His favorite activity to do with his family is camp, fish, and enjoy the outdoors.

His favorite childhood memories are going trout fishing and catfishing with his dad, and playing games with his little brother.

Sawyer has been involved in football (3), basketball (3), track (2), and baseball (1). He was also in SkillsUSA for two years and has been a member of NHS for all four years of his high school career.

The activity he enjoys most is playing football because he loves to tackle people and strategize.

His favorite high school memory is when he and some of his buddies secretly stashed food and drinks in the school athletic training room and made it their hangout club.

The class Sawyer enjoyed the most was English because he loves to write.

His biggest pet peeve is when people don't get to the point immediately.

Outside of school, Sawyer enjoys nature, driving, swimming, and fishing.

The three words that best describe him are mindful, inventive, and chill.

After High School, Sawyer plans to go into the Marine Corps and train as a Combat Engineer.

In 10 years, he sees himself either still in the Marines or living in Montana working on a ranch.

The person he/she admires most is his Dad because he has helped Sawyer get through tough times and made sure he achieved success inside and outside of school.

The teacher/coach who had the biggest impact on Sawyer is Mr. Phillips because he showed Sawyer how to be creative and think outside of the box.

The advice Sawyer would give underclassmen is, ”Plan ahead and be diligent with your time. It will save you the headache of doing it later.”
